Of course you should have a solid grasp of your particular niche market as well as your marketing methods. If you have a serious audience, then do not waste their time with discussions on silly issues, etc. Since your image in front of your audience is so important, it would be a shame if you dropped the ball on this one. But on the other hand you should not swing too far in the opposite direction. Accept that you will not be for everyone, and then just do not worry about losing some readers. So keep on eye on the type of posts you make so you do not lean too far in any one direction. You can contribute a great deal to your own cause by simply communicating with the people who come to your blog and talk to you. Some blog owners like keeping a tight schedule and only post accordingly, but just do what ever works best for you. You do, however, want to update your blog with fresh content every week. All bloggers, hopefully, who are in business are aware of the value of frequent posting, and the reasons why are many. Once you have your visitor situation under control, then you can turn your attention to the task of converting them. If you begin to let things slip, then you could undermine all your hard work and efforts. One of the keys to many benefits comes with creating blog posts that are relevant. If you do write off-topic, then your readers will feel like you have wasted their time. How current your posts need to be in terms of news and information really depends on your topic. Naturally, we all want our blogs to be authority, and that is a long-term strategy. You can still write a post that is relevant to the topic, but you can stray just a little if it makes sense and works well. Try to avoid obsessing over your visitor stats because you will see normal ups and downs with returning and unique visits. Continuing to do what you know works is the course of action to take, and you will see things return to normal.
