Getting to the first page of Google.

Lets face it, if you have a website which sells something, anything infact, you need your website on the first page of Google because that is where everyone that types in your keyword will end up, nobody and I mean nobody will go past the first page of Google unless they are actually looking how far down the rankings their webpage is, Getting onto the first page of Google is not as difficult as many of the so called gurus will have you believe, yes if you are going for an ultra highly searched for keyword then it will be slightly more difficult to get onto the first page of Google than a low ranking or searched for keyword but it is still possible and it will take a lot longer to acheive however if you do you keyword research properly then you can rank quite easily. What I am saying is instead of going for a keyword such as "internet marketing" a high value keyword with millions of competeing pages with a little keyword research you could possibly look at "internet marketing for the over 50's" still based around "internet marketing" but a niche within a niche with a lot less competition, this I guarantee you can rank well for and get to the first page of Google within a few weeks, after all traffic is traffic and your list will grow and grow. When looking for other related keywords I would seriously look at something other than Googles keyword tool, this is very good if you are using Google adwords because they want you to have as many related keywords in your adwords campaigns as possible, the more you have the more they earn however trying to rank for some of these keywords will not get you very far in organic searches. I would suggest another of Googles tools and that is called the Wonder Wheel, the Wonder Wheel has your keyword in the centre and keywords which Google themselves have deemed extremely close to the original keyword that it counts very much, so within the content on the webpage you are trying to rank for you need your original keyword and as many as the outlying keywords in the Wonder Wheel as possible, Google will look at this and think WOW this page is extremely relevant to the original keyword so lets bump it up the rankings. Article marketing is by far the best way to get further bumps up the page rank simply because every article you write will have anchor text (which should be the keyword/s you are trying to rank for) in the authors bio section, these links will stay around for ever, the more you write the more backlinks you will get, the more backlinks you get the more Google will think your site more relevant. I would certainly think of getting an article marketing submitter, this will submit your article to thousands of article directories at once saving you days and days of torture. I would definately steer clear of anyone selling you a service which includes giving you 10,000 + backlinks, they are spammed to sites all over the internet and will drop off very quickly, my philosophy is simple and that is stick to basics and when you do get to the first page of Google you will stay there.
