Former NASA Scientist Calculates an Astonishing Breakthrough in Energy

Dr. James Lee Foster, over 25 years with NASA as a physicist, dropped a bomb in the energy world last week by showing how we have 70% more energy than originally suspected domestically. This energy is produced in Coal Beds. Picture coal beds similar to the Barrier Reef. Except instead of fish and aquatic life, it holds bacteria. Recently, scientists have shown that Methane can be farmed from these beds of coal and the Methane can be regenerated over and over, like growing potatoes each season. The coal serves as the bacteria's home. And while living there, the bacterium creates methane. It is a natural process and has been occurring for billions of years. Yet now we can generate the process ourselves. Methane is one of the single most desired energy sources due to the fact that it is environmentally friendly. Studies show that Methane emits 95% less pollution than coal. It also generates nearly two times the amount of energy, is much cheaper, and the United States has a lot of it. This formula will change our lives forever so read carefully: Methane Farming increases the available energy by 70% in converting coal and water to methane. 2C +2H2O --> CO2 + CH4 Burning 2 moles of coal generates 2 x 394 KJ = 788 KJ. Burning 1 mole of methane generates 891 KJ. The C generates electricity with a maximum efficiency of 40% while the methane generates electricity with a maximum efficiency of 60%. 891 x.6 / (2 x 394 x .4) =1.7 Two molecules of CO2 have been generated in both cases. With the methane one CO2 molecule was produced in the ground. 1HWH = 3600KJ. 1 mole of coal is 12 grams. Why is this formula so shocking? It is shocking for more than just one reason. First, it says by mining coal we are using 70% less than its true potential energy value. Secondly, it states that by mining coal we are destroying coal bed seams that are rich in bacteria. Or in other words, we are destroying the place where bacteria harvest methane. Finally, and most importantly, it shows that the United States can easily become energy independent. No more foreign oil anyone? No more ridiculous gas prices? How about less war? Does this sound good to anyone? This is what Dr. Foster's formula states. Now the question is: does Obama stop the recent call to mine on Government properties in Wyoming?
