Maximize Distance With The Top Ten Golf Balls

Getting the most out of each club in the bag is vital to shooting low scores in golf. If you can get the most distance out of each shot you will be able to make fewer shots at the beginning, allowing you to have more chances at scoring on the green. Believe it or not, the golf ball that is used is a critical component in this.
More often than not I have seen the amateur player ruin his game by simply using the wrong ball for the job. Nearly all of them have told me that they felt more spin was needed on the ball to help control their approach shots. However, 95% of golfers should be looking for less spin and more distance.
You may be wondering why that is. Most amateur players do not strike the green on the approach shot. They have to do follow-up shots to run the ball up to the green. Excessive spin will actually hurt the player during these follow-ups.
Secondly, if the player has too much spin coming off the tee it will make an inadequate shot that much worse. If the player tends to slice his shots, adding spin to the ball will only worsen this tendency. In contrast, a ball with lower spin and higher distance will help you produce a straight, long shot.
While there are so many golf balls out there, fear not! Our list of the top ten golf balls for distance will help you choose the right one that lets you make straight and far shots, but also lets you perform well on the green.

1. Taylor Made Penta TP: This ball is simply the best all-around ball for both distance and spin. This ball has everything: great distance, perfect spin, a beautiful launch.
Approach shots will not be a problem with this ball, and there is enough spin on it that short shots will not be affected. In comparison to the Pro V1X it does not disappoint one little bit.

2. Titleist Pro V1x: This is the ball I use the most, and it is my personal favorite. The ball is a great all-around package, and is seconded only by the Penta. The Pro V1x is used by lower handicap players and pros alike. Though, I do know players of all levels that use this ball.
The Pro V1x has both a soft feel to it and great spin and distance potential, making it the perfect ball no matter where on the course you happen to be. The ball has a little bit more spin to it than the Penta, making it perfect for some of the specialty shots I take when I am close to the green. The average to high handicappers usually get tripped up on this aspect because their approach shots do not "run out" like they expect and they come up well short. This is not a ball I would personally recommend to a new player or even to an average veteran.
That is the only reason this ball did not make #1. But, once you know just how this ball will react to your swing, you really can't go wrong with it.

3. Titleist Pro V1: Titleist made another good ball when it came up with the V1. The only reason this ball landed in the #3 position is its distance is about 1.4 yards shorter than the V1x.
The V1 is better for a player with a high handicap than the V1x as it is more durable and has greater launch potential.

4. Callaway Tour i (z): The Tour i (z) is multi-layer ball with an unique hex-shape dimple design to reduce drag and increase distance. The ball has great durability and provides a good balance between distance off the tee and spin with scoring clubs.
If you are a fan of Callaway products you can't go wrong with this ball, no matter your skill level.

5. Taylor Made Burner: I tried this ball out this past summer and was quite impressed. The ball has a soft core that reduces drag and produces amazing distance for players of all levels.

I found it to be comparable to my preferred choice - the Pro V1x - in nearly all areas.

6. Callaway HX Hot Bite: This ball sports the same hex dimple design as the Tour i (z), giving it great distance potential due to its low drag characteristics. It is a favorite amongst players of all levels but especially with those who swing their clubs at average speed.

7. Bridgestone e6: I know many players that consider this to be the pinnacle of golf ball development. The golfer who swings at low or average speed will find the distance he achieves with this ball to be second to none.

8. Srixon Z-STAR: There was a lot of hype surrounding this ball when it first came out. After breaking down and trying it, I was impressed. I played awful that day, so I am sure it skewed my review, but overall not bad.
The ball's main feature is a low compression core that gives it greater speed and distance for the average player.

9. Callaway Big Bertha Diablo: This ball goes and goes. Tee shots are amazing with this ball, as the spin on it is virtually non-existent. If distance is all you care about you cannot pick a better ball.

10. Titleist DT SoLo: The DT SoLo is great for players with low to average swing speeds, as its compression statistics help achieve distance.

Many factors determine what golf ball is good fit for an individual player. One very important aspect to consider is golf balls compression. Each ball requires a certain amount of force to activate it and push it to its maximum potential in distance and spin. That is what compression is. The only way to determine which of these balls is best for you is to get out there and try them!
The best way to compare the shots is to take the time to try them out on a course you are familiar with. It's the only way to know for sure if the ball you are testing out is right for you.
Grab up some balls and get out to it! We just gave you the perfect excuse to play golf!
