Many people have no idea or lack any time to change the oil on their car so they take it to those quick oil change shops. Still is it possible to really trust these places to change your oil? In this article, I am going to focus on why it's not a great idea to go to these places and why you should find a regular mechanic instead. You're probably aware that your car owners manual will give you a break down on what things need to be done after so many miles of driving. There are regularly scheduled things like air filtration system or oil changes. Even so have you ever really looked through the manual on your car? I know for certain that your engine oil does not need to be changed every 3000 miles such as these quick oil change places will tell you. In the event you examined your manual, you will know that your oil should be changed every 6000 to 7000 miles. So generally these oil change shops are being untruthful to you about that. If you study the owner's manual, you will also see when you should get the air filters changed. For my automobile, it is suggested that my air filters get changed every two years or when it is clogged up. I have in fact used the old air filter for 4 years and it always looked as good as new but at that point I changed it anyway. But these quick oil changes would typically tell me that I really should have the air filter changed. As a matter of fact, after I had recently changed my air filter, I brought my car into a quick oil change place and they told me that I needed a new air filter. There seemed to be a very light discoloration and I was informed that it was at the first stages of clogging. When I told them it was added about 6 months ago, they told me that I could probably still use it for another 6 months before it need to be replaced. Specifically what annoyed me was that they initially explained to me that the filter had to be changed. But once I mentioned that the air filter was relatively new, they changed their answer to something else. This just demonstrates how dishonest and evil these people are. Another time, one of these stores swapped out my transmission fluid. I know they tell you it must be changed each time you go in there. This one time I permitted them to do it. Three months later on, when I went back to get an oil change, they tried to tell me the transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed again. Which was the very last time I ever visited any of those places. I don't go to these quick oil change places and rather have found the right mechanic to work on my car. Something you should consider is that the workers of the oil change places don't need to go to school to tell you what you need to have done to your car. Nonetheless a mechanic who happens to be certified is more than capable to help maintain your car.
