This article will show you how to manage the router's configuration file. This includes backing up and restoring the router's configuration settings. This article is designed for CCNA students, network engineers, and anyone looking to manage the Linksys wireless router's configuration file.
The Linksys wireless router allows you to backup and restore its configuration file. Therefore, this saves you a significant amount of time when the router's configuration file is corrupted, or when you want to copy the router's configuration settings into another Linksys router.
Read the following instructions in order to backup the router's configuration settings:
Step 1: Open your favorite web browser application, and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address field. Then press on Enter.
Step 2: In the authentication dialog box, enter the administrator's username and password. The default values are admin/admin for the username/password. However, on some Linksys router platforms, the default value for the username is the blank and for the password is "admin" without quotes.
Step 3: Click on Administration.
Step 4: Click on Backup & Restore.
Step 5: Click on Backup in order to save the router's configuration.
Step 6: Select the location where to store the file, and then click on Ok.
